A Way of Words

Catherine Groves

Occasioned by a conversation with a friend, Catherine Groves ponders the desire to break free from a worded reality. An unworded awareness, often described as a state of consciousness beyond words, is familiar to spiritual seekers who practice meditation or contemplative prayer. Yet seldom do most choose to live wholly within that state. Groves goes on to explore the nature of words within the human experience.

"... so we can teach them peace and union"

 Father
John W. Groff, Jr.

Our blast from the past for this C*NAQ Plus brings back a favorite from our April-June 1989 issue. Inspiring this essay is a saying from A Course in Miracles: "As God sent me to you so will I send you to others. And I will go to them with you, so we can teach them peace and union." In this early C*NAQ essay, Father John W. Groff, Jr. delves into our essential "Isness," which, according to Groff, is our true self that can be discovered only by entering into the Silence. Then he shares his response to the age-old question: "How do you 'teach' this to someone?"

The Letters Library

C*NAQ readers speak out

A lively selection of letters appears this time around! Wendell E. Wilkinson raises concerns about our global climate crisis. And the Reverend Dr. Robert Winterhalter, a professional in the New Thought field for nearly fifty years, comments on "The Secret Justice," an article by the Reverend Dr. Bruce G. Epperly that was published in the Winter 2009 issue of C*NAQ. In addition, we enjoy thoughts from Father John W. Groff, Jr., as well as Joanne Winetzki.
